Women’s Empowerment Program
The Women’s Empowerment Program is a collaborative effort between the Safespace Foundation, Inc., and the Miami-Dade County Advocates for Victims Program (AVP), and is open to all participants of area domestic violence shelters. The program takes place at the Miami Rotary Club Women’s Resource Center located at the Safespace North Shelter. The 9-week program focuses on personal and interpersonal skills, including sessions on self-esteem, goal setting, financial and budgeting education, building and maintaining healthy relationships, assertiveness and communication skill building, parenting, employability fundamentals, basic computer training, online job applications and resume writing.
Cell Phone Drive
Donate a used phone and help save a life. Used cell phones are recycled and programmed for use by shelter clients. These phones serve as a vital link to emergency support or services in times of crisis or simply as a private connection to employers, family and friends. Any individual regardless of their wireless carrier can donate a phone to benefit a victim.
Speakers Bureau
Knowledge is power. Our community outreach programs enable us to educate and inform the public in a variety of forums, workshops and settings. Our Speakers Bureau is available to speak at your workplace, meeting, community center or church.
Wheels to Work
Our car program provides qualifying women ownership of used vehicles. If you are interested in donating a car please call us. Remember all donations are tax deductible.
Endowment Fund
The fund provides financial resources for survivors of domestic violence in their quest to develop marketable skills that will ultimately translate into more life choices. Clients who successfully participate in the Women’s Empowerment Program offered at the Safespace Shelters, will be eligible for financial assistance to further help them to sharpen basic skills learned through the program, that promote marketability, self esteem, independence and empowerment.
